Getting Started / Policies
Since the therapeutic and coach relationship is so important to productive sessions, I prefer to have a brief phone conversation with all potential clients so we can get a sense of whether we are a good match for you. It is also an opportunity to decide whether or not Modern Wisdom will be able to assist you with your current concerns and be your best choice.
All communication between therapist and clients are kept strictly confidential. Your confidentiality is protected by law. No information regarding our work together can be released without your written permission.
These are the only exceptions:
Suspected child abuse or elder abuse, for which we are by law required to report to proper authorities immediately.
If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s we must notify the police and inform the intended victim.
If a client intends to harm himself or herself, we will make every effort to enlist their cooperation insuring their safety but must notify proper authorities if client is in imminent danger.
If you contact me by email or telephone, I will make every effort to respond within 24 hours excluding weekends and holidays.
If you are unable to reach me and feel that you can not wait for a return call, please contact your family physician or nearest emergency room.
In order to be effective, therapy needs to take place on a regular basis. The best results occur when appointments are consistently scheduled and regularly attended. Therefore, in the event you need to miss an appointment, rescheduling is preferred over cancellation.
In the event of a cancellation, we request that you give us several days or a week notifications. Appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours will be charged a cancellation fee at the price of the session. I do understand that emergencies do occur so we will do our best to reschedule your appointment for an alternative time in the same week.
In the case of a psychiatric or medical emergency please call 911 or go to your local emergency room.
Billing and Payment
You can pay with cash, check or venmo at the time of service unless alternative payment has been arranged prior to the session. A billing receipt is available upon request to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement if your plan allows and is covered by your policy. Please allow one week for that receipt which will include information necessary for insurance provider.
Length of Sessions
Session length varies by type of service.
Individual therapy: 50 minutes
Couples therapy: 60 minutes
Group Sessions: 60 minutes or 90 minutes
Coaching: varies by type of session.
At this time I do not accept insurance but am happy to provide receipt for insurance reimbursement. It is the client’s responsibility to make sure that you understand the requirements of your individual carrier. Fee for 50 minute therapy individual session is $85.00, $100.00 for couples. Nexalin Therapy is $1,000.00 for 10 session protocol. Inquire for more info regarding coaching rates. I do offer reduced fee opportunities to clients who are unable to afford the full fee based on income or other circumstances on a limited basis.
