Short term Situational Crisis Counseling/ Conversation Coaching/ Decision Making
In mental health terms, a crisis refers not necessarily to a traumatic situation or event but a persons reaction to an event. The Chinese word for crisis presents and excellent depiction of the components of a crisis. The word crisis in Chinese is formed with the characters for danger and opportunity. A crisis can present an obstacle or trauma but it also offers and opportunity for growth or decline.
Many of us face daily situations or “mini crisis,” that we believe if we just have someone to talk the issue through or “pros and cons” we could get “unstuck.” Having someone to run your thoughts by, get feedback and assist you in making one time decisions can help relieve the anxiety one may feel when pressed with an important decision.
Short Term situational counseling and decision making, can help you focus on the decision on hand, help you evaluate your options and assist you in moving forward with your decision. Create deliberative communications for a specific circumstance. Unlike traditional counseling, this short term option can as short as one to six sessions to address a very specific situation. You learn to evaluate situation for your self with tools that can be used forever. You are not given the answer.
